Rick Newsom’s journey in the construction and remodeling industry is marked by a passion for craftsmanship and a commitment to delivering exceptional results. After studying business management, Rick ventured into a unique path at the age of 20, relocating from California to Aspen, Colorado, to pursue a career as a ski instructor. During this time, he was introduced to the world of remodeling and custom home building, gaining valuable insights that would shape his future endeavors. Rick immersed himself in this field for two years, laying the foundation for his future in construction.
Upon returning to California, Rick transitioned into the role of a journeyman carpenter in the San Ramon area of Blackhawk. Over the course of six years, he honed his skills, eventually ascending to the positions of lead foreman and superintendent for a prominent developer for an additional five years. This experience provided Rick with invaluable expertise in overseeing and executing construction projects at various scales.
In collaboration with his brother, Rick embarked on a new venture, establishing a business focused on custom cabinets, furniture, and finish work in Sacramento. This endeavor proved transformative, leading to the creation of Elk Grove Remodeling and Construction. Over the span of 11 successful years, Rick and his team excelled in additions, ADU custom homes, as well as kitchen and bathroom projects.
Driven by a desire to further contribute to the industry, Rick co-founded Newsom Construction, partnering with a childhood friend of more than 50 years. For 17 years, they designed and built custom kitchens, bathrooms, and executed various custom finish work and whole house remodeling projects.
Rick expanded his expertise into commercial work for five years, collaborating on projects such as Discounters/3 Day Blinds and Discovery Zones. This diversified experience added another layer to Rick’s already impressive skill set.
Now, alongside his wife with 23 years of design experience, Rick is embarking on a new chapter with LionHeart Design Build. Excited to offer a one-stop-shop approach, they are dedicated to kitchen and bathroom design and construction, ensuring all work is done in-house with a team of seasoned remodelers. With decades of collective experience in tile, cabinets, and granite and stone, Rick’s commitment to maintaining a cohesive and skilled team reflects his dedication to delivering top-notch results.
